The 1756-L83E is a ControlLogix 5580 controller manufactured by / Automation as part of the ControlLogix 5580 product line. This module is based on EtherNet/IP communication, and it comes with three main controller tasks, including 1000 programs per task, 32 tasks, and event tasks, which are all triggered with no limit. It also features a user memory of 10 megabytes for data and logic, as well as optional non-volatile storage memory. The device is shipped along with 2 gigabyte SD card and the 1784 SD2 that is preinstalled. Also, the 1756-L83E controller features a non-detachable energy storage module which is already integrated in the controller. Other notable features of this controller include two communication ports, embedded EtherNet port, and Type-B USB port. It is advisable to use an SD card by Automation because these cards are pre-tested and verified to be suitable for the controller and can also tolerate extreme temperatures that the controllers get exposed to. If you choose to use other SD cards, leave the card installed because diagnostic data would be stored in it if fault occurs. Automation uses such data for reference while troubleshooting.

The 1756-L83E PanelView Controller supports several communication options. The EtherNet/IP-related uses of the 1756-L83E controller are the connection of the controller with input and output modules, directly to the EtherNet/IP network without the need for a bridge module.
